ICINA cannot reveal or reset a forgotten passphrase. There is no master password, account-recovery service, or server-side copy of your key.
If you previously enabled Face ID or Touch ID and it still unlocks the vault, you may continue to access its contents on that device, but biometrics do not reveal or reset the passphrase. Do not disable biometric unlock or change the enrolled biometric set until you have made a new handoff and safely recreated anything you need under a new vault passphrase.
Write every vault and export passphrase somewhere safe — a password manager, a handwritten copy in a secure place, or both.
Open your vault, tap the + menu, then choose Seal the vault. This creates an encrypted .icina file you can save through Files, AirDrop, email, or external storage.
Use a strong, unique export passphrase and share it with your beneficiary through a different channel from the file. When they receive both, they open the file in ICINA and enter the passphrase. Their letter comes first.
Basic document scanning works on supported iPhones running iOS 17.6 or later. Free users receive three lifetime scans; ICINA Pro adds unlimited scanning.
Intelligent autofill is a separate Pro feature that requires iOS 26 or later and availability of Apple Foundation Models. When unavailable, ICINA can still save the scan as a PDF without autofill.
If scanning does not open, check whether the free scan allowance has been used and confirm camera access in Settings → ICINA.
Yes. Your vault is a portable .icina file — it goes wherever the file goes. Copy it to another device via AirDrop, iCloud Drive, or any file-sharing method, open it in ICINA, and enter your passphrase.
There is no automatic sync between devices. If you make changes on one device, you'll need to re-export and transfer the updated file to any others.
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. To cancel, go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → ICINA Pro → Cancel Subscription.
You'll keep full Pro access through the end of your current billing period. Existing encrypted vault content remains on your device and readable in the vaults you can access.
After Pro expires, Pro-only creation and management features become unavailable: encrypted handoff export, items beyond the free 25-item cap, file attachment, unlimited scans and intelligent autofill, quarterly audits, expiry reminders, brand switching, and multi-vault management. Cancelling does not delete existing vault content.
Go to Settings → Restore Purchases inside ICINA. This asks Apple to confirm your purchase and unlocks Pro access without charging you again.
If Restore Purchases doesn't resolve it, make sure you're signed into the same Apple Account used for the original purchase. If the issue persists, contact us with the app version, device model, iOS version, and exact non-sensitive error message.
Never send your Apple credentials, passphrase, .icina file, or screenshots or text from inside your vault. We cannot verify ownership from an Apple Account email address.
Write to us directly.
We read every message and typically reply within one business day. Include your app version, device model, iOS version, and a non-sensitive description of the issue. Never send a passphrase or vault content.
